200 Gallon Cast Iron Hog Scalding Kettles
$4,500.00
Description
We have a PAIR of these, Cast Iron, one made in Batavia Illinois, clearly marked on bottom, #1 DR Sperry (circa 1872). The other out of Toledo, OH with great marks. If you had a commercial butcher shop for killing hogs, you needed a “bath tub”, supported by a brick kiln all the way around it, a modest fire under it capable of boiling water (212 degrees), where you could boil water, and dunk a dead and freshly gutted hog to scald and scape the hair off the hide, this was the perfect solution in the day. Approximately 200 gallon vessel. DR Sperry found in Grantville/Coweta County, Georgia. The other in Cairo, Illinois (think Tom Sawyer). Wide lip, 69 inches across rim to rim, 24 inches deep, 37″ wide. Both are intact, Toledo in perfect shape, DR Sperry crack but repaired with good weld, and we warrant they will hold water. Can be epoxy sealed, can be drilled to drain. Several pictures available. Really really heavy, weight approximately 600 lbs. Price is for each one.
