Granite Millstone, designed to stand as a pedestal, and a rock “sat” flat on top of it
Granite Millstone Marker Stone
$5,000.00
Description
This is one of the more different millstones and applications we’ve seen. It was designed to stand as a pedestal, and a rock “sat” flat on top of it, turning, and in this case, saltpeter, was fed from the top, and ground saltpeter fell out below. The rock originally was in a saltpeter mill in Albany, Oregon. It’s overall height is 30 inches tall, and the base is 14 inches by 18 inches by 15 inches tall, and then bulbous top extends another 15 above that.
Because the rock on topped all the work, the “bulb” is almost like a a half sphere. It does have two pin holes in opposing sides to lift and lower it. It almost looks like a fertility symbol, which is a great asset to a garden. Weight approximately 725 lb.
