Fireplace set, 12 x 26, with 44 balls
Fireplace set featuring 44 water filtration balls
$775.00
Description
Architectural Digest ran an article some 25 years ago about designers ripping out their gas logs, maintaining a gas burner, and setting these water filtration balls, sometimes called Chattahoochee River Balls, Sometimes called Fireplace Balls, in a pyramid in place of the gas logs. The flames form your gas burner rise thru the balls. These 3″ caliper, 1 and 1/2 lb. silica (sandstone) balls have been treated with muratic acid to get them super clean and white. This specific set consists of a rack that is 26 wide, 12 inches deep, a 3″ off the ground. The 44 balls form a base of 3 rows of 8, the second row is 2 rows of 7, and the top row is a single row of 6 balls.
This design can be lengthened, made wider to hold more rows, more balls, to get a higher stack.
Because of weights, available in Atlanta or during the show at Scott Antique Markets.
The frame weighs 40 lbs., Total with 44 balls is approximately 106 lbs. I have shipped these, but budget $175.
