36 Inch Millstone

Description

A nice french buhr runner stone. Imported from the Alsace Lorrain district of France back in the day, french buhrs were individual pieces of limestone that were custom cut to fit, banded, backed with plaster of paris or concrete to add weight. Works of art, all by themselves! They were highly sought after because of their ability to keep a sharp edge and mill wheat as oppossed to corn. The runner is 36 inches in diameter, 8 inches thick, with an 10 inch half spanish cross cut eye. From Cave Spring/Floyd County, Georgia. Click on the picture above and it will blow it in size again. Really nice wide, deep grooving cut in quarter dress pattern on both. Rebanded, reset.
