42″ French Buhr Runner Millstone from Boxwoods Estate, Atlanta, #42002FB-B
42 Inch French Buhr Millstone
$4,500.00
Description
Part of a collection we bought at the Boxwood Estate in Ansley Park/Atlanta. Original owner was a banker who built the house and collected these stones from all over North Georgia in the late 1800’s. This is a French Buhr, mined in pieces in the Alsace Lorrain District of France, assembled there, generally backed with concrete or plaster of paris to add heft and balance. Coveted because their limestone edges stayed sharp and would meal wheat into flour.
Don’t flip out with the fact it’s made in sections. Go online to the “millstone” portfolio and see what my great landscape architects do with them. Absolutely gorgeous!
This one is a huge runner stone with great grooves, great edges. 42 inch diameter, 8-10 inches thick, has a huge 10 inch spanish cross cut eye. Strapped, Nice grooves, nice color, Millstone cut is quarter dress. Ready for your landscape architect and mason.
Weight approximately 1400 lbs.
