54 Inch French Buhr Millstone

Description

Part of a collection we bought at the Boxwood Estate in Ansley Park/Atlanta. Original owner was a banker who built the house and collected these stones from all over North Georgia in the late 1800’s. This is a French Buhr, mined in pieces in the Alsace Lorrain District of France. Coveted because their limestone edges stayed sharp and would meal wheat into flour.

This one is a huge set stone with great grooves, great edges. 54 inch diameter, 8-10 inches thick, has an 10 inch square eye. Strapped up, Nice grooves, nice color, Millstone cut is quarter dress. No backing, loose and awaiting your designer and mason.
