35 Inch Grindstone

Description

This monster grindstone was reclaimed near Spartanburg, Spartanburg, South Carolina. 35 1/2 inches in diameter by six inches thick, it has a 3 inch round eye. Grindstones were used in the manufacturer of cast iron products to dull the sharp edges as the pieces came out of their sand molds. This rock may have been up six feet in diameter at one point and as the edge was used, it has been ground down to now 35 1/2 inches. Sandstone brown/green in color.
