48 Inch Georgia Millstone

$5,000.00

48″ French Buhr Runner Millstone from Boxwoods Estate, Atlanta, #48003-B

Description

Part of a collection we bought at the Boxwood Estate in Ansley Park/Atlanta. Original owner was a banker who built the house and collected these stones from all over North Georgia in the late 1800’s. This is a French Buhr, mined in pieces in the Alsace Lorrain District of France. Coveted because their limestone edges stayed sharp and would meal wheat into flour.

Don’t flip out with the fact it’s made in sections. Go online to the “millstones” portfolio and see what my great landscape architects do with them. Absolutely gorgeous!

This one is a huge runner stone with great grooves, great edges. 48 inch diameter, 10 inches thick, has an 12 inch round eye with a hub in it. Nice grooves, nice color, Millstone cut is quarter dress. Partially banded. Plaster of paris or concrete backing (common for the day) awaiting your designer and mason.

Weight approximately 2300 lbs.
