Mated Pair of 36 inch Alabama Millstones

Description

From a mill in Jasper/Walker County, Alabama, just NW of Birmingham, Smith Lake territory. The Runner is 36 inches in diameter, 9 inches thick, with a 10 inch round eye. The Set Stone, also 36 inches in diameter, is 9 inches thick with an 7 inch round eye. The stone is a grey granite. Cut in quarter dress, nice grooves, weight approximately 2000 lbs. together. So perfect, so uniform, believed to have been part of a RD Cole Mill, manufactured in Newnan, Georgia in the early 1900’s. Since millstones were part of the harvest, they are symbols of hospitality. These would look great anchoring each side of a driveway.
